The Dog Shed Carlow

Appointment Terms

At The Dog Shed Carlow, our commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and positive grooming experience for your dog is of paramount importance. We ask you to familiarise yourself with the following terms and conditions governing our dog grooming appointments:

1. Matting Policy:
We are governed by the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 in all cases. Upholding the health and well-being of your dog is our top priority. In instances where significant matting is discovered during the grooming process, we utilise gentle and humane techniques to remove the matting. However, where severe matting is present, it may need to be removed with clipper blades and/or scissors. This may result in your dog's skin being exposed. Nicks and scratches to the skin can happen as the blades/scissors must go very close to the skin, however we take this process very seriously and will do everything in our power to try to prevent this from happening. Please understand that this is a stressful situation for your dog and the groomer, and adequate time needs to be allocated which may delay the planned collection time of your dog. Please be advised that supplementary charges may also apply. In all cases, we will contact you during the groom to discuss any required changes to the agreed grooming plan.

A "pins and needles" sensation (blood rushing back to the skin) is felt by the dog after matting is removed, often causing bruising to the skin. This feeling can cause your dog to act a little funny - dragging bottom, licking excessively, rubbing around, scratching and even hiding away in some cases. This sensation should go away with time.

We understand that if your dog is clipped short that their appearance may not be pleasing to the eye. We understand that your dog may not look as expected, however we always put the comfort and wellbeing of your dog over their appearance.

2. Dog Behaviour Policy:
For health and safety reasons we may not be able to cater for your dog if they become highly stressed or display difficult behaviour or aggression. If we feel the behaviour is manageable and we can continue with the groom, extra costs may be applied due to the extra time needed. If we find your dog is not settling or their behaviour poses a risk to their and/ or the groomers safety,  we reserve the right to discontinue grooming services.

3. Parasite/Tick Policy:
Maintaining a hygienic and secure grooming environment is crucial. We kindly request that your dog is free from parasites such as fleas and ticks before their appointment. In the event that evidence of fleas or ticks is identified during grooming, we will need to take appropriate measures to protect all pets in our facility. Please note €20 is added on where fleas or ticks are found on your dog. This is to cover the necessary treatment of your dog and the fumigation of the salon as parasites are highly contagious to other dogs in our care.

4. Cancellation Policy:
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and plans may need to be adjusted. To accommodate changes, we request a minimum notice of 24 hours for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Please be aware that failure to provide sufficient notice may result in a cancellation fee.

5. Late Arrival Policy:
Punctuality ensures the smooth operation of our grooming services. We kindly ask that you arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. If you happen to be more than 15 minutes late, we may need to reschedule to guarantee that each pet receives the dedicated attention and care they deserve.

By scheduling an appointment with The Dog Shed Carlow, you not only entrust us with the care of your dog but also acknowledge and agree to these terms and conditions. Should you have any inquiries or require clarification on any aspect of our policies, please do not hesitate to contact us.
